Are all sectors covered or just tech?

All sectors. While technology companies generate a high volume of layoff announcements, the dataset covers retail, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and other industries wherever a confirmed US workforce reduction is reported.

What counts as a mass layoff?

Any confirmed company announcement disclosing a headcount reduction, restructuring involving job cuts, or workforce reduction plan. Individual terminations are excluded; the dataset captures formal company-level announcements only.

Are restructuring announcements without a headcount number included?

Yes. Where a specific number is not disclosed, the layoff count field is left blank. The record is still included if a confirmed company announcement describes workforce reductions or restructuring involving job cuts.

What is the refresh rate of this dataset?

We rerun this dataset once a month. You can create your own dataset that updates as frequently as every one hour on platform.newscatcherapi.com/catchall
